The Leigh & Westcliff LTA, in conjunction with the Lawn Tennis Association [East Area], hosted another Junior Tennis Challenge Tournament Event on Sunday 30th September 2018. The event was hosted by Invicta LTC, Leigh Road Baptist LTC & Crowstone LTC on behalf of the Leigh & Westcliff LTA and the LTA East Area. Leigh & Westcliff clubs got together for their sixth annual Golf Day for their golfing members at Garon Park Golf Club on Friday 20th July which hosted several fun events incorporating a golf competition between the participating local Tennis Clubs. The event organised by Terry Robertson of Thorpe Bay Lawn Tennis Club, attracted a record 63 golfers this year from 10 Tennis Clubs who enjoyed the warm, sunny weather and competed for the prestigious Club Trophy which had been won by Thorpe Bay for the past two years. Our annual presentation evening took place in October. League winners were presented with their trophies and winners of the tournaments in both Summer and Winter were also presented with their trophies. Thank you to all those who attended and made the evening a success.
Team Challenge is a team competition for players who are 11 – 14 years of age. COMPETITION DATE – Sunday 30th April 2017 – Start Time 1230 at Leigh Road Baptist LTC. There are a maximum of 6 players in each team. The cost is £5 per team. You may enter as many teams as you wish. Please complete a separate form for each tea. The Presentation Evening for 2017 has been confirmed for the 21st October at the Arlington Rooms.
The AGM will be on Thursday 16 March at 19.45 at Southend Lawn Tennis Club. Click here for directions. The agenda and papers will be sent to the relevant club contacts. Remember, this is your opportunity to vote on proposed rule changes. There are two votes allowed per affiliated club. However, anyone is welcome to attend the AGM. Proposals for rule changes should be submitted by 31 December 2016. These must be received by the Leigh and Westcliff Committee secretary. Only then, members can discuss these at the AGM. The current rules are available to view here. Finally, remember, the rules are there for you.
